Armed Citizen® Today

On Feb. 21, a man with a knife allegedly threatened a couple outside an apartment complex in Clearwater, Fla. Fearing for their lives, the male victim shot and injured the suspect.

Once released from the hospital, the 37-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of aggravated assault. He was also charged with battery on a person 65 or older for a separate incident the day prior, in which he had allegedly thrown a water bottle at a 70-year-old woman, striking her in the face. From the Armed Citizen® Archives – August 1983

When Richard Vallejos awakened to the sound of a window being broken in his Tucson, Ariz., home, he secured a pistol and lay on the floor next to his bed. An intruder made his way through the house into the bedroom and, upon spotting the homeowner, pulled a gun from his belt. Vallejos fired first, striking the prowler in the arm and chest. The man died shortly thereafter at a nearby hospital. (The Citizen, Tucson, Ariz.)
