Armed Citizen® Today

An 18-year-old home invasion suspect is in the hospital after confronting a shotgun-wielding homeowner in Clovis, N.M.

Police say they were called to the scene by the two homeowners, and upon arriving at the residence, they discovered the suspect nearby, bleeding from his abdomen. An investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly attempted to enter the house and was fired upon by one of the residents, who had armed themselves with a shotgun.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment, and police say the investigation is ongoing. (KRQE News; Clovis, N.M.; 3/23/25)

Store owner Joseph Hillis was suspicious when a customer warned him that two men were "casing" his Palms, Calif., business. Two armed mean wearing stocking masks later entered the store and told the clerk to "get that guy (Hillis) out of the back room." The owner, from a peep-hole in his office, shouted a warning and then opened fire with a 12-ga. shotgun.

One suspect died; the other was charged with murder on the grounds that he had taken part in a crime in which a person was killed. (The Santa Monica Evening Outlook, Santa Monica, Calif.)
