Armed Citizen® Today

An elderly Wisconsin woman returned to her home in the afternoon of Thursday, May 28, 2020, and was startled to find a 28-year-old man had broken into her house and was lying on her couch in his underwear, watching her TV, playing on her iPad and eating her food.

When she confronted the intruder, the man told her he was at his grandmother's house and kept changing his name. When the woman told the intruder that he was not her grandson, he began picking up belongings scattered around the house.

The woman called her neighbor, who arrived with a shotgun, held the 28-year-old at gunpoint and told the woman to call the police. At this point, the intruder threw a bag appearing to contain pill bottles onto the porch of the house and began playing his guitar.

When police arrived and confronted the man, he yelled, "Shoot me!" at the responding deputy, and after a brief struggle, the man was detained.

Police searched the suspect's vehicle and found marijuana, a glass pipe and multiple needles and pens. They also recovered $9,107.25 in cash from the suspect's shorts. He is currently facing six charges in the Kenosha County Circuit Court, including a felony count of burglary. (Kenosha News, Silver Lake, Wis., 05/28/2020)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives August 1973

A gunman walked into a food store in Westwego, La., and told the cashier, "This is a holdup! Give it to me, quick!" The cashier picked up a gun, fired twice and mortally wounded the thief.

Police found the man's body a short distance from the store and arrested a woman suspected of driving a getaway car. (The Times-Picayune, New Orleans, La.)
