Armed Citizen® Today

Fiction turned into fact for a Mobile, Ala., man who shot and killed an intruder breaking into his home early on the morning of April 19, 2023.

At 3:30 a.m., the man and his wife were watching a Netflix show about a burglary in progress when they heard an object fall and their window shatter. The husband went to investigate the noise and found a 31-year-old alleged intruder climbing into the house through the window. The man shot the intruder, while his wife called 911 and checked on the couple's sleeping children.

Police arrived and transported the wounded suspect to the hospital, where he later died. The couple had a message for would-be robbers and homeowners. "First of all, don't break into people's houses," the husband told WKRG News. "Second of all, you need protection for sure."

"Protect yourself, protect your family, because we are," the wife added. (WKRG News; Mobile, Ala., 4/19/23)

Recently Eberhard Herz was tending his father-in-law’s Los Angeles, Calif., store when two gunmen, armed with a Luger pistol and a sawed-off shotgun, entered. After making Herz empty the register, the bandits demanded whiskey. Masking his movements as he put several bottles into a bag, Herz took a cal. .38 revolver from under the counter and shot at both bandits. One died instantly; the other fell critically wounded, shot in the forehead. Police said the bandits had staged six robberies in the past 36 hours and more than 100 in the past three months.
