A caretaker of a Kenmore, Wash., storage facility was forced to defend himself when he cam e across an armed intruder attempting to break into the facility early in the morning of Monday Dec. 28, 2020.

The incident occurred before 12;45 a.m. when the caretaker was making his rounds at the facility when he came across a woman attempting to break her way in to steal items. At some point during the confrontation, the woman pulled out a gun. In response the caretaker, who was also armed, drew his own pistol and fired a single round at the armed intruder.

The woman was struck in the shoulder by the caretaker's shot. Police arrived a short time after receiving a call about the incident where they found the wounded would-be robber and paramedics took her to the hospital. She will be booked into the King County Jail once released from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing. (komonews.com, Seattle, Wash., 12/28/2020)
