Armed Citizen® Today

A home-invasion spree was ended by an armed homeowner in Louisiana, who stopped a knife-wielding suspect by shooting him, according to local reports.

Police responded to reports of break-ins and stabbings involving several residences in Iberia Parish. Officers say the 47-year-old suspect had stabbed two people and was allegedly in the process of breaking into a second home in the same area when he was confronted by an armed homeowner who shot the intruder once in the chest.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and faces two counts of home invasion and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. (KATC News; Iberia Parish, La.; 11/1/24)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – March 1965

Alerted by a noise from the direction of their dining room, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Wylie of El Paso, Texas, both armed themselves and went to investigate. In the dining room, they confronted an armed robber who had broken in by cutting open a screen door. The man lunged at Mr. Wylie, who hit the armed intruder on the head with his gun. Then while Mr. Wylie covered the robber, Mrs. Wylie called police. (El Paso Herald-Post; El Paso, Texas)
