Armed Citizen® Today

A man in Seattle, Wash., defended himself when he became the target of a random attacker on the morning of Jan. 31, 2021.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. that Sunday when the man was walking on the sidewalk near the 3800 block of Stone Way North. Another man crossed the street and approached him. The other man then began to assault the victim by punching him in the head and chest. As he was being brutally pummeled, the man drew his concealed-carry pistol and shot his assailant, which stopped the attack.

Police reported to the scene a short while later, where they found the battered and bruised victim, who told them that he had shot his attacker. Police found the assailant a few blocks away, and he was taken to a local medical center to treat his non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Police said that once the assailant is out of the hospital, he will be booked into the King County Jail. (kiro7.com, Seattle, Wash., 01/31/2021)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives January 1989

An 89-year-old Ft. Wayne, Ind. woman was talking on the phone when the line went dead. Later, she heard noises and thought someone was trying to break in. So she headed out the door to a neighbor’s house to call the police. But, as she opened the door, a man wearing a black hood pushed her back into the house.

Her 91-year-old husband heard the commotion and grabbed a shotgun. The hooded man told the husband to get back, but when the resident continued to advance, the hooded man fled. “The gun saved us,” the woman said. “Boy, did he run.” (The News Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Ind.)
