Joshua Black, 27, was with several others when they heard someone else inside his home around 1 p.m. Three suspects were already on their way out with a stolen handgun and two televisions before Black discovered they were there. Gunfire erupted between Black and the suspects, one of whom was fatally wounded. No other injuries were reported. One of Black’s neighbors said, “If (the homeowner) didn’t have a gun, he might be the one who was killed. You got to do what you got to do (sic) to protect yourself.” (Guns.com, Indianapolis, IN, 8/1/14)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
A concealed carry permit holder in Vernal, Utah, stopped the robbery of an Arby’s restaurant by a knife-wielding woman. The man was ordering at the restaurant’s drive-thru when the employee on the intercom stopped responding to him. The man then parked his truck and entered the restaurant to complete his order. Once inside, he made eye contact with an employee who mouthed the words, “We’re being robbed.” to him. He then returned to his truck, retrieved his gun and again entered the restaurant. When the robber noticed him, she advanced on the man, prompting him to point his firearm at her. After a brief scuffle, he was able to gain control of the knife, and then he continued to hold her at gunpoint until the authorities arrived at the scene. The culprit was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance. (KSL.com, Vernal, UT, 1/25/15)

June 1982:
American Airlines flight attendant Teresa Quinn saw a man sneaking into a neighbor’s garage near her Dallas, Texas home. Armed with a revolver, Quinn confronted the man and held him for more than 20 minutes before police arrived. Police accused the man of setting six separate fires in North Dallas homes; he had already been convicted of setting fire to two homes and four automobiles, and was out on bond. A fire investigator said of the intrepid stewardess, “We need more folks like her.” (The Morning News, Dallas, TX)
