Armed Citizen® Today

An armed father was forced to shoot a pitbull that began attacking his son on the family's Sarasota, Fla., property on Jan. 2, 2024.

The dog, which was loose and away from its owner, attacked the child in the family's yard, leading the father to shoot and wound the pitbull in order to stop its advance. Police say the pitbull suffered no life-threatening injuries, though it did have to undergo emergency surgery. No charges were filed against the father who shot to protect his son. The dog's owner was issued a $66 citation for a dog running at large. (My Sun Coast; Sarasota, Fla.; 1/2/24)

When Columbus, Ohio, bar owner Mrs. Helen McCoy found two men ransacking her place of business, she fired twice at the thugs and then held them at gun point until police arrived. It was later learned that the two had been responsible for more than a dozen break-ins in the area. (Toledo Blade)
