A Tennessee teen who was invited to a friend’s house for a sleepover apparently decided he wanted to sleep with his friend’s mother—and not in a consensual way. When he allegedly entered the mother’s bedroom and tried to force himself on her, she responded by kneeing him in the groin, pulling a gun, aiming at his face and telling him to get out. He listened. The 18-year-old faces sexual assault charges. (Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington, KY, 6/5/18)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
Because of the “Stand Your Ground” law, a Kansas man will not be charged after shooting an intruder who attacked him on his front porch. Around 1:30 a.m., the resident awoke to banging on his front door. Through the peephole he could see a male figure  striking and kicking his front door, so he retrieved a gun and exited the back of his house, approaching the man on the porch from outside. Meanwhile, a second resident of the home called 9-1-1 to report the incident in progress. Outside, the resident demanded that the trespasser—who was twice his size—leave. He initially complied, but then turned and advanced on the resident. A struggle ensued on the porch and the resident, fearing for his life and that of the female resident inside, eventually shot his attacker, killing him. (Lawrence Journal-World, Lawrence, KS, 8/3/18)

Hearing noises over the intercom that connects the hallways of his Middletown, R.I., motel, Fred Armbrust got his pistol and investigated. Armbrust found a prowler in a darkened room and fired once. The man ran from the motel. Police picked him up when he sought aid for a gunshot wound in his shoulder. (The Newport Daily News, Newport, RI)
