Armed Citizen® Today

A woman came to the rescue and defense of a bludgeoned kidnapping victim she found on the side of the road in Eugene, Ore., on Aug. 24.

The woman was on her way to a bear hunt early Monday morning when she noticed a badly beaten man on the side of Highway 126. After pulling over to check on the man and dialing 911, the man told her that he and his girlfriend had been kidnapped. The man also said that the kidnapper was driving his car, which was parked not far off, and that the kidnapper was going to kill him.

Upon hearing this the woman instructed the victim to find a place to hide. Soon after, she noticed another man, with a handgun, walking down the highway towards them. The woman then pulled out her hunting rifle to hold the armed kidnapper at bay and waited for authorities to arrive. The kidnapper, one of three, fled the area before authorities showed up to the scene.

One of the three kidnappers was caught by police in the area with the victim's girlfriend inside a car. The girlfriend only sustained minor injuries in the kidnapping. Authorities are still searching for the other two kidnappers involved. (kezi

Two armed thugs who forced their way into the rectory of a Philadelphia, Pa., Catholic Church got an unexpected reception. After first terrorizing one of the priests in the residence, the gun-waving pair tried to break into the apartment of Msgr. Fredrick Moors.

Instead of yielding, Msgr. Moors slammed the door in their faces and called for, "Jack, get your gun," to his assistant, Fr. John Farry. At the threat of armed resistance, the two crooks beat a hasty retreat. (The Evening Bulletin, Philadelphia, Pa.)
