An escaped convict is probably thinking twice about his decision to try carjacking someone while he was on the run from corrections officers. Turns out, the driver of the car he tried to take had a concealed-carry permit and was armed. The prisoner had stolen a truck and escaped from custody on Feb. 3, and several days later was in a Department of Corrections medical facility being treated for a gunshot wound. He was originally imprisoned in 2003 on a 30-year sentence for armed robbery. (Clarion Ledger, Jackson, MS, 2/7/18)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
A man was standing at a Redbox outside a gas station renting a movie, when another man decided he didn’t like the way he looked at him. The thug came out of the gas station, approached the man, swore at him and stabbed him three times in the neck with a pocketknife. The victim quickly responded by retrieving his gun from his car and shooting his attacker in the leg. The assailant “fell to the ground and dropped the knife, then got up and continued to run.” Police later found the fugitive and took him to the hospital, eventually charging him with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon by a restricted person. When asked why he stabbed the man, the felon said the man “gave him a look” while he was inside the gas station. At the time of the attack, the criminal was on probation for conviction of a violent felony. The victim was not charged as police determined his actions were in self-defense. (Desert News, West Valley City, UT, 3/28/18)

April 1964
As motel clerk Benjamin Renchenski was accosted by an armed bandit in Detroit, Mich., he purposely jammed the cash register and explained the trouble to the robber in a loud voice, which attracted the attention of Charles Grisson, one of the owners. When Grisson saw the intruder holding a gun on his clerk, he fired three shots into the thug, who fell, critically wounded. (Detroit Free Press, Detroit, MI)
