A Chicago, Ill., man found himself in a difficult situation involving a neighbor's teenage son on Feb. 8, 2022.

Sometime after 10 p.m. that Tuesday evening, the neighborhood was startled by the sounds of an alleged domestic disturbance at one of the homes, spurring multiple calls to the authorities to report it. One of the calls came from a man who lived next to the residence in question. After calling police, the man went over to his neighbor's residence to investigate the noise. There the man found a woman in a confrontation with her 19-year-old son, who was holding a knife and appeared to be suffering from a mental episode.

Not wanting to escalate things, the man left the residence and the area, but the young man followed him with the knife still in hand. The youth continued to try and get closer, forcing the man to take action for his own safety. Being a licensed concealed-carry holder, the man drew his concealed pistol and shot the armed teen in the leg. The man then managed to get away from the teen, but that wasn't the end of the knife-wielding teen's spree. Not long after, Chicago police encountered the wounded, and still armed, teen walking down the street towards them. The police used a taser to gain control of the youth, who was then taken to a local hospital. The man was not charged in the shooting.  (cwbchicago.com, Chicago, Ill., 02/09/2022)

A wheelchair-bound Forth Worth, Texas, man was awakened by a burglar who pushed the 77-year-old resident out of his recliner. Falling into his wheelchair, the handicapped homeowner grabbed a handgun and while the criminal hid behind a chair, called the police. The homeowner then retreated to another room. After hearing gunshots, the resident saw the intruder had armed himself with a shotgun. He shot and killed the intruder. (The Chronicle, Houston, Texas)
