Springfield Armory Prodigy Comp Coyote Brown 1

Springfield Armory announced the addition of two new models of its 1911 DS Prodigy Comp handguns in 2025, with both guns having a coyote brown Cerakote finish. Models are available with either a 4.25" or a 5" barrel, and all 1911 DS Prodigy guns are chambered for the 9 mm Luger cartridge.

Springfield Armory launched its 1911 DS Prodigy Comp model in the middle of 2024, all of which featured an integral, single-port compensator located just forward of the front sight. The addition of the port is designed to reduce muzzle rise without compromising the balance of the pistol by adding an additional compensator forward of the muzzle.

All of the controls, including the trigger, bilateral thumb safety, left-side slide-stop lever and left-side push-button magazine release, are finished in black Cerakote, along with the beavertail grip safety, barrel, front sight and AOS rear cover plate. Now, both the coyote-brown models and the Comp models have been combined into an attractive, easy-to-shoot package.

Springfield Armory's Coyote Brown 1911 DS Prodigy pistols feature a full-size grip frame that accommodates 2011-compatible magazines. The company includes a 17-round, flush-fit magazine and an extended 20-round magazine with each gun. Recently, Springfield Armory also introduced its 1911 DS Prodigy 3.5" Compact, which features a shortened 3.5" barrel, an aluminum-alloy frame to reduce weight and a compact grip frame that accepts a 15-round, flush-fit magazine.

Pricing on the new Springfield Armory Coyote Brown 1911 DS Prodigy Comp pistols is $1,549. For more information, visit the Springfield Armory website here.

Why the Murder Rate Quickly Fell to a Likely Historic Low

If the gun-control Left is to be believed, then the murder rate in the U.S. should be going up. After all, gun sales and ownership rates have been rising for the last few decades and anti-gun groups claim that gun ownership is the cause of violent crime. This, of course, is nonsense.
