While Beretta has an all-new gun submitted for the Army XM17 trials, it has continued to improve its existing platforms—including the traditional double-action/single-axction PX4 Storm platform. Beretta worked with top-level trainer and competitor Ernie Langdon to make some improvements to the hammer-fired gun. The Compact was already the right size or a double-stack 9 mm carry gun, but Langdon asked for some improvements in the size and shape of the controls, the finish and other features. If you like hammer guns, you need to look at the PX4 Compact.
