Springfield Armory expanded its 5.56 NATO Hellion bullpup rifle line-up with additional barrel length options earlier this year. Now the company is taking that expansion one step forward by offering three new Hellion color options.

Left side of the OD Green Springfield Armory Hellion rifle.Springfield is expanding its Hellion line-up with Desert FDE, OD Green (pictured) and Gray options.

Where the polymer chassis/receiver of the Hellion was initially offered in black, Hellions will now be available in Desert Flat Dark Earth (FDE), Olive Drab (OD) Green and Gray. These color options are only available with a 16" barrel and the specs for the new rifles will follow the original Hellion of that barrel length. At its core is multi-lug rotating bolt that is operated by an adjustable short-stroke gas piston system.

Overall length varies from 28.25" to 29.75" due to the design’s unique-to-the-bullpup-world five-position telescoping stock. The rifle’s pistol grip is compatible with AR-15 designs and comes with a BCM Gunfighter Mod. 3 installed. M-Lok slots are present in the handguard area. Magazines are also AR-15 compatible and one 30-round PMAG is supplied. A pair of flip-up iron sights come installed on the rifle’s Picatinny top rail. Ejection can be switched for right or left-handed shooters without tools, the charging handle is ambidextrous and the safety lever is bilateral. The rifles weigh 8 lbs.

Right side of the Gray Springfield Armory Hellion rifle.Specs for the new Hellion color options (gray pictured) follow that of the original 16"-barreled Hellion.

All three color variants are also available in low-capacity versions that come supplied with a 10-round magazine, for locales that have magazine-capacity restrictions.
