Savage Arms has a reputation of building budget-friendly rifles that perform when it counts, and that's particularly true of the company's AXIS II rifle lineup. Most of the options in the company's AXIS rifle lineup are geared toward hunters and field use, but in 2020, Savage expanded the lineup with a purpose-built precision rifle in the form of its AXIS II Precision.

Partnering with Modular Driven Technologies, Savage Arms set its proven, popular and affordable AXIS II barreled action inside an MDT rifle chassis designed exclusively for use on this particular platform. The aluminum chassis features a black finish that's enhanced by an olive-drab skin made from injection-molded polymer. The skin forms a magazine well that allows for seamless mag changes, and the injection-molded polymer elements extend to the buttstock, where consumers will find adjustments available for comb height and length-of-pull.

At the front of the MDT Chassis, several M-Lok attachment slots offer mounting points for a range of accessories. Other features found on the Savage AXIS II Precision rifle include a Picatinny optics mount ready to accept the riflescope of your choice, as well as the ability to accept AICS-pattern detachable magazines. True to the AXIS lineup, the rifle features the company's user-adjustable AccuTrigger, which can be set to a pull weight of 2.5 to 6 lbs. The rifle features a 22-inch barrel made from carbon steel and topped with a threaded muzzle.

The Savage Arms AXIS II Precision rifle is available in 6.5 Creedmoor, .30-06 Springfield, .308 Win, .270 Win., .243 Win. and .223 Rem. The overall length on the rifle measures between 42 to 43 inches, depending on length-of-pull adjustments, and the guns weigh in at 9.85 pounds, unloaded. Each rifle ships with one 10-round, AICS-pattern magazine. The suggested retail price on the AXIS II Precision lineup is $949.
