Fear & Loading: Aim Small, Shop Sub-MOA this Holiday Season

There are 30.2 million small businesses employing 58.9 million people in the United States, according to U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), yet few of them will gain media attention this holiday season. That honor, the headlines that follow and the majority of gun owner money spent on gifts will go to the usual suspects, many of them retail goliaths publicly aligned against the Second Amendment.

The largely overlooked small firms represent 99.9 percent of the companies in the U.S., by SBA estimates, and includes the nearly 54,000 holding a Federal Firearms License. A pre-Black Friday event held this week by one of them, Money Quick Pawn near Fayetteville, N.C., highlights why the potential to tap more expertise and save cash is often at one of them.

On Nov. 15 and 16 a Mobile Tactics Trailer will be on hand as the store holds its “Glock Days” sale, providing enthusiasts with a chance to test drive pistols—safely and with professional instruction, if needed. It’s an unusual trend with small- to medium-size stores, one that helps customers make the right purchase decision the first time, with no regrets.

The portable range is state of the art, too. It has three lanes, cutting-edge sound containment and bullet traps, state-of-the-art ventilation and is fully staffed with range safety officers.

“Come try out the latest in Glock handguns and accessories,” Money Quick Pawn Manager Danny Garcia said. “How often do you get an opportunity to shoot a handgun before you buy?”

The chance to get behind the trigger isn’t the main attraction, though. A new Glock will go to one lucky attendee—winner’s choice, with mandatory background check and paperwork, of course—and the company understands gun enthusiasts pose some tough technical questions. The team at Money Quick Pawn is extremely knowledgeable, but during the event representatives from Vortex and Ameriglo will bolster that expertise.

There are sight upgrades, IWB holsters and more being given away during the event. Discounted Federal ammo makes an ideal stocking stuffer, well worth picking up now instead of waiting to the last minute and paying full price.

“Money Quick Pawn would like to take this opportunity to invite our customers and like-minded enthusiasts to come join us for an afternoon of fun and learning with our friends from Glock, Ameriglo, Safariland and Vortex,” Garcia said.

The chance to ask the right questions, make the right purchase and support a right-thinking company and its employees isn’t unique to “Glock Days” in North Carolina. Odds are good an FFL nearby has a similar event planned this year, providing a money- and effort-saving opportunity for your holiday purchases to hit the bullseye this year.
