A 69-year-old man in Beverly, Ill., defended himself with his licensed concealed-carry handgun when a group of teenagers attempted to rob him on March 9, 2021.

The incident happened around 10:35 p.m. that evening when a group of three teenagers in a stolen car stopped, exited the vehicle and approached the man. The youths threatened the man and demanded him to hand over his belongings. Instead of complying with their demands, the man instead drew his concealed-carry gun and fired at the would-be robbers.

One of the young robbers was struck in the knee, with all three running back to their stolen car and fleeing. The youths only made it a short distance before they crashed the stolen car down the road. All three attempted to flee the crash but were caught by Chicago police a short time later.(chicagotribune.com, Chicago, Ill., 03/10/2021)

The first time 77-year-old Virginia Shoop's apartment was robbed, she lost a television set. When the same robber returned a
second time, they escaped with cash. But when one of the same hoodlums returned a third time, the Wichita, Kans., woman walked to a bureau, took out a pistol and wounded the man in the abdomen. (The Wichita Eagle and Beacon, Witchita, Kans.)
