Browning’s engineers took to the Maxus series shotgun to give consumers a hot, new offering that takes an already-proven design to the next level. Browning’s Maxus II Wicked Wing maintains the core technology used in the success of the original design, such as its Power Drive Gas System, Lightning Trigger, 3.5” chrome-lined 12-ga. chamber and bore to name a few. For 2021, Browning added a redesigned customizable stock, enlarged the gun's controls, improved the trigger guard, increased camouflage options and disassembly features. But that’s not all you get with the Maxus II.

American Rifleman has reported on Browning’s successful Maxus shotgun, with one report in 2009 stating, “Best described as lively, trim and svelte, the Maxus looks and feels like anything but the typical 3.5”-chambered field gun … Browning has achieved a worthy goal. Not only does it function with light, 2 3/4", 1-oz. 12 ga. loads, but all others up through 3 1/2", 2 1/4-oz. magnum shot-shells. Along with that, the Maxus offers a host of features that simplify operation and maintenance …”

2021’s Maxus II features a completely redesigned stock system that can be trimmed to fit, lengthened and adjusted for cast and drop. Enhancing ergonomics of the Maxus II is Browning’s SoftFlex technology used in the cheek pad to help minimize felt recoil in addition to the 1.5” Inflex recoil pad attached at the stock’s butt. New overmoldings on the stock and forearm are smartly designed to benefit the shooter. The trigger guard was changed to a more-effective design that provides support when loading the magazine tube. Browning also includes a new oversized bolt release and bolt handle.

Browning’s Maxus II continues with the gas-operated, short-stroke piston system made famous in 1994 by the company’s Gold series autoloader. For 2021, Browning engineers have further tuned the system to accommodate the myriad, task-oriented shell options available today. Furthermore, the Maxus II Wicked Wing, as seen in the above video, features a limited edition Realtree Max-5 camouflage stock and a Burnt Bronze Cerakote finish on the aluminum receiver and steel barrel.
