FN America built on the success of its FN 509 handgun lineup in 2021, adding a new option for concealed carry. The FN 509 Compact gives you a dedicated personal-defense pistol that's sized for daily carry, and this particular model comes outfitted with low-profile sights that work perfectly for concealment and low-light use.

“The FN 509 Compact model complements the Compact MRD, equipped with our patented optics-mounting system, and offers users an all-new concealed carry option in the FN 509 family,” said Chris Cole, vice president of sales and marketing for FN America, LLC. “The low-profile carry sights with high-visibility front sight make this an ideal choice for professional and civilian CCW users.”

The original FN 509 Compact MRD, with its optic-mounting system, also featured raised sights that were designed to co-witness with a mounted optic. For those who aren't planning to use a red-dot sight on their daily carry pistol, these sights can be more of a hindrance to full concealment and comfort.

In addition to the set of snag-free night sights, the FN 509 Compact is outfitted with the same ergonomic grip design as the rest of the FN 509 handgun lineup, ensuring that you'll have a frame that anchors itself solidly in your hands. To improve fit, the compact model ships with two interchangeable backstraps.

Each FN 509 Compact also comes with two magazines, one flush-fit 12-round option and an extended 15-round model for backup or range use. The pistol is chambered in 9mm only and features a barrel length of 3.7", an overall length of 6.8" and a height of 4.6" with the flush-fit magazine installed. Unloaded, the gun weighs 25.5 oz. Black and flat-dark-earth models are available, and suggested retail pricing starts at $679. For more information, visit fnamerica.com.
