Based out of West Valley City, Utah, SilencerCo established a business of building high-quality sound suppression devices, which started off as a garage venture in 2008. Now the company has a well-established line of suppressors, including an integrally suppressed pistol, the Maxim 9. Now SilencerCo is offering its SCO15, a stripped AR-15-style lower receiver.

The SCO15 from SilencerCo is an AR-15-style receiver that boasts features AR-15 builders are attracted to. Classified as a stripped receiver, the SCO15 does come with a proprietary bolt catch accessible from both left and right sides. The receiver is machined from 7075 aluminum and treated with Type III anodizing, which renders a with a matte-black finish due to the sulfuric acid used in the process.

SilencerCo machines its receiver to be used with mil-spec parts. The lower’s integral trigger guard has been shaped to allow use with gloved hands and flows into the magazine well, which features a flared design. The enlarged opening of the magazine well is designed to expedite reload times, so shooters looking for a competition-grade receiver will be pleased. Additionally, a provision threaded into the receiver’s rear allows the installation of a receiver tensioner—this design has been proven to boost the accuracy potential from the AR-15 platform.

“For years, SilencerCo has aggressively ventured into various segments of the firearms industry with innovations like the Maxim 9, Maxim 50, and Radius. I was confident our engineering team could bring unique features and options to a lower receiver as well. We accomplished our goal by including a unique ambidextrous bolt catch, integrated QD sling cups and integrated trigger guard, all at an affordable price,” said Scott Clinger, SilencerCo’s VP of Business Development. “As we continue to expand our line of firearms accessories, it is a natural progression to make a quality AR-15 lower.”

Suggested retail price of the SilencerCo SCO15 is $249. To learn more about the SCO15, and its exclusive dealers, check out the company website HERE.
