Armed Citizen® Today

A pizza-shop owner in Wissinoming, Penn., who was legally authorized to carry a firearm for personal defense, was working at his business late on an evening in early April when he defended himself from a would-be robber, police say.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., a 16-year-old man armed with a gun came into the shop and attempted to rob the owner at gunpoint. The shop owner was carrying his CCW gun at the time and shot the man in the top of the left hand.

The man was transported to an area hospital by a private vehicle, and authorities say the suspect is currently in custody.(FOX 29, Wissinoming, Penn. 04/05/2020)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives October 1962

The husband of Mrs. Margaret Byars of San Mateo, Fla., was away at work when Mrs. Byars became aware that there was a prowler in her backyard. The stranger first yelled for her to open a door and then proceeded to break it down.

In the meantime, Mrs. Byars had gotten a rifle. As the would-be intruder smashed through the door, she fired three times. The prowler promptly vanished. (San Mateo Times)
