An employee of a New Orleans, La., convenience store defended a fellow employee when an armed gunman opened fire on her during a robbery attempt on Dec. 23, 2020.

The incident began shortly before 9:30 p.m. when the would-be robber walked into the store and grabbed a drink from a cooler. He then made his way behind the front counter, with a gun drawn, and demanded money from the cashier. The robber became impatient with the cashier, and then began randomly firing in her direction. Another employee heard the shots and drew his own pistol before pushing the cashier to the ground and out of the line of fire.

The armed employee then verbally warned the armed robber to drop his firearm and surrender, to which the robber replied with more gunfire in their direction. In response to the armed robber's continued assault, the employee took aim and fired at the armed robber. The robber was struck and fatally wounded by the employee's shots. Neither of the employees involved in the incident were injured. (nola

An intruder had forced open a window and had one leg inside Myron Klimaszewski’s apartment in Baltimore, Md., when Klimaszewski awoke about 4 a.m. He pointed a pistol at the man, ordered him to freeze, and called the police, forcing the man to stay in his position straddling the windowsill until officers arrived.
