Acting on the trick in “trick or treat,” a criminal in New Haven, Conn., took the Halloween saying to a tragic extreme. Walking down the street, a local resident was approached by a stranger who said, “Happy Halloween,” before stabbing his victim. The pedestrian’s cousin was waiting in a nearby car, and witnessing the assault, stepped out of the vehicle to intervene and was stabbed as well. The cousin drew his firearm and shot the assailant in the chest, killing him. (The Hartford Courant, New Haven, Conn., 10/11/18)

First Look: MDT Hand Cannon Slingshot

Slingshots are fun, but they can also be a legitimate backup defensive tool—in 2023, a 13-year-old Michigan boy saved his 8-year-old sister from being kidnapped by using a $3 slingshot to fire a marble and a rock at the assailant, striking him in the chest and head.
