An intoxicated man wearing only shorts screamed obscenities and made threats while pounding on the door of a Baltimore residence around 1 a.m. The homeowners called 911 and told the man to leave. The man left the scene, but later returned and broke down the door. As he entered the home, he was fatally shot by one of the homeowners. The armed citizen, a man in his 50s, was in lawful possession of the firearm and will not face charges according to the State’s Attorney. (The Baltimore Sun, Baltimore, Md., 9/03/2019)

A woman shot and wounded a purse-snatcher one Tuesday morning. After parking her vehicle outside her home, the Texas woman was surprised by two men, one of whom reached through her drivers's-side window and grabbed her purse. Before they could take the bag, however, the woman retrieved a gun from it and fired at the men twice. She hit one, who was later found as a result of his injuries, and is facing aggravated robbery charges. (abc13.com, Houston, Texas, 9/3/19)

After noticing a youth close the door on a display case in his jewelry store in Detroit and start for the door, Fred Weinstein grabbed a revolver from behind a counter and ordered the suspected thief to halt. When police arrived, they found 8 diamond rings in the youth's possession. (Detroit News)
