An American Rifleman Golden Bullseye winner for Shotgun of the Year in 2016, the Benelli 828U over-under was the company's first stack-barrel shotgun. Fairly conventional looking on the outside with its wood stock and aluminum receiver, the 828U differs from other shotguns on the inside. For example, the aluminum receiver is unstressed, and departs even from other aluminum-receiver shotguns in the sense that its hinge and locking components do not directly bear the brunt of firing stresses. This design provides steel-on-steel lockup that fully contains the forces of firing. Available in either satin black or nickel finishes, this shotgun was created with waterfowl hunting in mind, as the machined areas on the receiver were designed to emulate the appearance of waterfowl in flight.
