Elderly people don’t always acquiesce to playing the victim. In Indiana, an 82-year-old who was home alone warded off a would-be burglar. While the suspect was trying to remove a window air conditioner, the resident called 9-1-1, but the police didn’t respond before he broke in. After a physical altercation, the homeowner accessed his defensive gun and fired twice at the intruder, causing him to flee. (theindychannel.com, Indianapolis, IN, 6/11/17)
