modern stock upgrade for M14/M1A-style rifles, the Blackfeather RS modular chassis is precision-machined from 6061 aluminum alloy with a hard coat anodized finish and patterned from the U.S. G.I. fiberglass stock. The unit consists of the chassis, a buttstock adapter, two end plates, three rail sections, and a steel operating rod guide and wear plate, and can be assembled in a variety of ways. Unique features include adjustable barrel tension and single-bolt takedown. An available adapter accepts a Magpul Mossberg shotgun buttstock (not included) to work in conjunction with the rifle’s original iron sights or, with an optional rail, forward-mounted optics. Two other adapters accommodate AR-style buttstocks and conventionally positioned, higher-magnification optics with a second optional rail or with typical receiver-mounted scope rails. Possible rifle configurations include DMR- or CQB-styles with fixed or folding stocks. Overall length of the chassis is slightly under 20" sans buttstock adapters, and weight is 2 lbs., 9 ozs. with a Magpul pistol grip and M14.ca RBS buttstock installed, yielding an overall rifle weight of 8 lbs., 4 ozs. The chassis supports standard-contour and some medium-weight barreled actions, but does not fit actions with selector switches or lugged receivers. Price: $640.
