A barber and one of his customers turned the tables on a couple of armed robbers, killing one and chasing off the other. The Next Up Barber & Beauty shop in Columbia, S.C., was doing a brisk business one Friday evening in January. With customers filling the barber chairs and others waiting for service, two armed men entered the establishment. One intruder with a handgun man-handled some customers to steal their money; his accomplice pushed a barber to the floor and used a shotgun to keep most of the customers cowering in their chairs. After the man with the handgun took money out of the barber’s pocket then turned his attention to customers waiting for haircuts, the barber and one of his clients drew guns of their own and shot at the assailants. The one armed with the handgun died, the other fled. (The State, Columbia, SC, 1/26/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
One suspect was shot, and an unknown number of accomplices are being sought by the authorities, after a group of brigands tried to rob the residence of an Atlanta police officer while he was home. The burglars first knocked on the door, and then when no one answered, they kicked the door in and entered the house. The homeowner responded by arming himself and firing upon the intruders, at least one of whom was armed and who fired back. The culprits then all fled the scene, but one of them turned up shortly thereafter at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The officer was not injured. (cbs46.com, Atlanta, GA, 1/10/16)

April 1961
St. Louis sundry store owner Charles Brown was bound by three armed bandits and thrown into a back room. Brown managed to free himself in time to seize a hidden pistol chambered in .45 ACP and open fire on the trio. One dropped, critically wounded, and police quickly caught the others.
