Two men have been arrested in connection with an attempted burglary in Indiana that ended after the homeowner used a gun to scare off the intruders. A woman, who was alone in her home, said a white van was driven up to her residence, and shortly thereafter, she heard the doorbell. Because she didn’t recognize the van, wasn’t expecting any deliveries and couldn’t see who rang the doorbell, the woman didn’t answer the door. Soon, she heard the chime for the rear door. The woman retrieved her firearm and called the police. She then told the suspects that she had a gun, and they ran back to the van and drove off. Police have arrested the suspects and are investigating whether they are also responsible for other burglaries in the neighborhood. (The Times, Valparaiso, IN, 2/11/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
One robber is dead and another on the lam after their attempt to hold up a Houston, Texas, convenience store was foiled by an armed clerk. The men entered the shop with ski masks on and pistols drawn, demanding all the money from the register. According to the police, one of the assailants started chasing the storeowner’s son around the shop while the other attempted to enter the employees’ enclosure, prompting a male clerk to pull a gun and open fire. Both men attempted to flee, but one collapsed and died on the front door of the business. It is unknown whether the escaping thief was wounded during the incident. (abc13.com, Houston, TX, 1/10/16)
