Looking for love in Las Vegas could have spelled trouble had the seeker not been armed. A man headed out one night to meet a woman he met online. Upon arriving at the designated location, the would-be suitor discovered that the woman had an accomplice. The pair attempted to rob the man, who retrieved his firearm and opened fire on the male assailant. The criminal was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Both suspects were charged. (KVVU-TV, Las Vegas, NV, 9/22/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
One Tuesday afternoon, two armed intruders confronted an elderly man in his garage and tried to steal his pickup truck. Unfortunately for the intruders, the homeowner also had a firearm with him when the men demanded his truck and fired on them, killing the two armed intruders. The homeowner was not injured and the preliminary investigation indicates the shootings were justified. (Fulton Sun, St. Louis, MO, 11/2/16)

December 1961
Having wrecked a stolen car down the road, two young gunmen attempted to gain entrance to the Memphis, Tenn., home of Holmes Winford on the pretext of summoning a wrecker. Failing this, they shot in the glass, forced their way in, and began beating Winford. Mrs. Winford, hearing the commotion, peeked through her bedroom door and saw the youths beating her husband. She loaded an old cal. .38 pistol in the dark, and stepped out to confront the gunmen. One opened fire on her and missed, and Mrs. Winford then shot and killed one and downed the other with a bullet in the hip. (UPI, Memphis, TN)
