A good guy with a gun kept a multiple-victim shooting near a Lyman, S.C., nightclub from becoming worse. One man got into an argument with another outside the club. He pulled out a gun and fired multiple times into a crowd, injuring three people. One bystander, who was carrying legally, returned fire, striking the shooter in the leg and ending the gunplay. The Armed Citizen® Extra
A husband and wife, along with their three children, were asleep when two men forced their way into their home through a door. Awakened by the home security alarm, the homeowner subsequently fired two shots from a handgun at one intruder. When the second intruder appeared from behind a door with a gun raised toward him, the homeowner fired multiple shots from a rifle with which he had managed to arm himself. The would-be thief proceeded to shoot once at the husband before escaping through a window, prosecutors said, but responding Bakersfield police officers quickly located him nearby and took him into custody, where he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, ski mask, 10 zip ties and was wearing a bullet-proof vest. He had been struck by several rounds from the homeowner. (The Bakersfield Californian, Bakersfield, CA, 8/24/26)

October 1976
A gunman entered the Dayton, Ohio, home of Elnora Stone, accosted the owner and shot at her twice with a handgun. Mrs. Stone was able to deflect her attacker’s arm and fire her own gun. She mortally wounded the assailant. No charges were brought against Mrs. Stone because, as a Dayton homicide detective stated, “The man was in the bedroom of the house, and she had every right to protect herself.” (The Journal Herald, Dayton, Ohio)
