We, know, it’s not a gun. But while this U.S. Model 1872 officer’s saber was on loan to NRA’s National Firearms Museum, we had to do a segment on it. Commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt, this saber was carried by Col. Roosevelt of the 1st. U.S. Volunteer Cavalry, the “Rough Riders,” when he went to Cuba during the Spanish American War. How do we know? Roosevelt actually wrote about tripping over it. Oh, and it has his name on it, too.
