Ruger's Model 10/22 turned 50 last year, and Senior Executive Editor Brian Sheetz wrote an insightful story on Bill Ruger's landmark design, which you really should read. Sheetz took the the NRA Technical Test Range (why wait in line at Media Day?) with the new Ruger 10/22 Charger Take-Down, and while he loves most things Ruger, this new handgun was a real standout. Remember the ingenious barrel-nut system of the 10/22 Take-Down? It has now been applied to a laminated wood-stock Charger pistol, one that takes Ruger's well-designed AR-style polymer pistol grip—or scan be changed out for your favorite AR pistol grip.
