Settling a common resupply quandary for outdoorsmen and tactical users, Gerber designed its Cortex flashlight to operate on either two AA or three CR123 batteries. Likewise, its Cortex Compact uses either one AA or one CR123. The U.S.-assembled lights have machined 6061-T6 aluminum housings and Cree white LEDs activated by rubberized tailcap switches with momentary and click-on, click-off settings for high, low and strobe modes. The Cortex is 6.3" long and weighs 5.8 ozs. While the Cortex Compact is 3.5"-4" long, depending on battery, and weighs 2.1 ozs. Both lights include replaceable spring-steel pocket clips and come with AA batteries.

Price: $104 (Cortex) $82 (Cortex Compact)
