Winchester Win 1911 ammunition boxes rounds cartridges ammo 45 ACP packaging

With its Win 1911 ammunition, Winchester has released a product that is most likely to function reliably in nearly any .45 ACP-chambered M1911 platform. It was developed specifically to function across the board in 1911s; in fact, it was tested in numerous makes and models of the much-vaunted pistol before being released to consumers. Wisely, the company offers two ballistically complementary loads: there is an economical, nickel-plated, 230-gr., flat-point full-metal-jacket round for practice and a nickel-plated, 230-gr., jacketed-hollow-point load for defensive use. The latter is “preprogrammed” (notched) to provide a 0.650”-wide maximum upset diameter, and through “soft” targets, it retains nearly 100 percent of its pre-expansion weight. The velocity for both loads is 880 f.p.s. MidwayUSA lists 50-count boxes of Win 1911 as costing $28 (full metal jacket) and $40 (jacketed hollow point). Does this sound like a load that you’ll try in your favorite M1911? Why or why not?
