The Jewell trigger is supplied with a two-position Remington-style safety.
All Surgeon XL actions feature an integral full-length Picatinny rail with 30 m.o.a. of forward cant.
A raised fence protects the pivoting bolt release from inadvertent activation.
Standard on the XL rifle is a McMillan A-5 stock with adjustable comb, length-of-pull buttpad spacers and flush-mounted cups for quick-detachable sling swivels.
The Surgeon XL’s bolt is a two-lug design with a Sako-style extractor and plunger ejector.
The XL receiver has an integral 30-m.o.a. rail and 0.44-inch-thick recoil lug, and a flat bottom and sides for greater rigidity. Trigger is from Jewell.
A lever in front of the trigger guard drops the Accuracy International single-column five-round magazine from the Surgeon steel bottom metal.
Recoil reduction is afforded by a SureFire brake, which also allows rapid installation of a SureFire sound suppressor.
