Dr. John Tyson, once a principal in the DuBiel Arms Company of Sherman, Texas, has gifted nine DuBiel rifles to the National Firearms Museum at NRA Headquarters in Fairfax, Va. DuBiel rifles were manufactured from 1975 to 1989 and are considered very rare, featuring a patented action which had a five-lug bolt locking mechanism that resulted in a 36-degree bolt rotation. These extremely accurate center-fire rifles were available in standard calibers from .22-250 through .458 Win. Mag., as well as selected “wildcat” calibers.

Three rifles were donated in memory of Dr. Tyson’s personal friends, including Thurman J. (T.J.) Allen; Michael D. Howard, M.D.; and Jeffrey Whitecloud, whom he called his “native American blood brother.” Six additional rifles were donated in honor of his wife of 45 years, June Tyson, and longtime friend Joe H. Graham, Executive Director of NRA Publications.
