The Armed Citizen

Armed Citizen® Today

The armed owner of an upscale residence in the Hollywood Hills took action against an unexpected intruder, stopping a alleged burglary in process and holding the suspect at bay for police, according to a local news report.

The burglary call came in to the Los Angeles Police Dept. at about 1:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, with the caller stating that a suspect was inside the house. When police arrived, they found the homeowner holding the suspect at gunpoint, and officers then took the man into custody.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and the LAPD reportedly gave the homeowner the option to file a private citizen's arrest, but he declined to do so. Since nothing was taken from the home, police filed a trespassing report. (KTLA 5 News; Los Angeles, Calif.; 8/2/25)

Porterville, Calif., store owner William Baker attempted to hide when an armed masked man came into his shop. When the man began firing, Baker returned fire, wounding his assailant. Baker eluded a second masked robber and went for help. The body of the wounded bandit was later found in a driveway, apparently dumped there by his companion. (The Fresno Bee, Fresno, Calif.)
