Armed Citizen® Today

A homeowner in Des Moines, Iowa, heard a woman screaming in their backyard around 11 p.m. on Feb. 28, followed by someone banging on the back door. When the homeowner investigated, a woman allegedly forced her way into the home and began assaulting the homeowner.

The homeowner apparently tried to fend off the woman while calling 911, but the confrontation ultimately ended with the resident shooting the intruder, striking her multiple times. The 46-year-old suspect was treated at the hospital and released. She faces charges of second-degree burglary, a Class C felony. (kcci.com, Des Moines, Iowa, 3/1/26)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – December 1991

Thomas Terry of Anniston, Ala., was eating in a local restaurant late one evening when several armed men came in and announced a robbery. As the robbers tried to herd everyone into a walk-in cooler, Terry tried to escape through a locked door, but his movement alerted the thieves to his presence. When one approached the table where he was hiding, Terry pulled his .45-cal. pistol and, in an exchange of shots, killed one suspect and wounded his accomplice. A third criminal fled.
