Armed Citizen® Today

On March 18, around 3:30 p.m. in Chicago, a male suspect approached a 27-year-old man and attempted to rob him at gunpoint. The man, however, was also armed, and responded to the threat by shooting the assailant in the chest.

The robber was transported to the hospital but was later pronounced dead. No charges had been filed at the time of reporting. (abc7chicago.com, Chicago, Ill., 3/18/26)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – January 1987

A South Bend, Ind., man was in an upstairs bedroom of his home when he heard noises at his front door. Arming himself, the resident went downstairs and found the front door kicked in. He saw an intruder and when the man moved toward him, the resident fatally shot the armed intruder. Police did not charge the resident in the shooting, saying he had the legal right to use deadly force.
