One suspect is dead and another two are in custody following an attempted break-in at a home in Dyersburg, Tenn., where an armed homeowner defended himself and his property from the trio of robbers.
Police say the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, April 28, when they responded to a call of shots fired at the residence. When they arrived, they found a 19-year-old suspect had been shot by the homeowner, and he was pronounced dead. The other two suspects fled the scene, but both were arrested two days later. They face charges of aggravated robbery, attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. (Action News 5; Dyersburg, Tenn.; 5/2/25)

Willie Stone, sitting in his country store in Florence County, S.C., was suddenly confronted by a man with a drawn pistol and a stocking concealing his face. "Don't move!" the holdup man ordered.
Stone reached his pistol from under the counter and fired one shot. It hit the holdup man in the shoulder. Police later arrested a suspect at a hospital where he had gone for treatment of a gunshot wound. (The State, Columbia, S.C.)
