Armed Citizen® Today

An employee of an Akron, Ohio, MetroPCS store stopped an armed robber with a firearm during a holdup at the store on Dec. 1, 2020.

The incident began just before 8:00 p.m. that Tuesday evening when the would-be robber walked into the store. He then pulled out a handgun, announced the robbery and made his way behind the cash register. Once the register was stripped of money, the robber then attempted to get into the store's safe.

As the robber was trying to get into the safe, one of the MetroPCS employees pulled out his own handgun and fired several shots at the armed robber.

The robber was taken into custody by police once they arrived on the scene. He was struck by at least one of the rounds fired by the employee and was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition. (cleveland19.com

From the Armed Citizen® Archives October 1983

A would-be rapist awoke Claudine Hale in her Baltimore apartment, grabbed her by the throat and threatened to harm the children sleeping in the same room. Hale struggled with the assailant, then managed to reach a handgun, which she used to halt the attack.

He fled after being shot, and a suspect was found dead nearby. Baltimore authorities declined to press charges against the woman. (
