Walther Arms continues to expand its F-Series handgun line, a design initially developed for women but that has broad appeal across the firearm consumer market, thanks to its unique design elements and feature set. Watch our "American Rifleman Television" Rifleman Review segment above to hear the details of one of the latest variants, the PDP F-Series 4-inch.

"When I got to the range, I got to shoot that first F-Series gun. I was immediately impressed and went, 'Whoa, what is this thing?'" NRA's Christopher Olsen said. "I really like how this gun feels. It responds very well to my grip technique and how I shoot. So I dug in a little deeper and realized, 'Whoa, this is a gun that's designed for females.' And I said, 'That's okay. I'm not too proud to want to shoot one of these guns or even own one, for that matter.' And so I dug a little bit deeper and started thinking about a few things that I normally wouldn't have."

To construct the frame of the Walther PDP F-Series, the company sampled a broad range of women's hand sizes to get a sense of optimum trigger reach and grip circumference. This also is a benefit to all handgun enthusiasts, men and women alike, who might have smaller hand sizes and struggle with trigger reach on most traditionally sized handguns.

"Some of the creature comforts that you're gonna get on this PDP F-Series, you're gonna get that solid Walther ergonomic and texturing and the undulations and the way it engages the grip," Olsen said. "It feels really great in the hand. You can tell here it's got a nice little pinky lip that, even for my large fingers, I can get a nice full grip on the gun, and Walther includes many other enhancements."

One of the other standout design elements of the Walther PDP Pro F-Series 4-inch is the addition of a two-piece striker that helps to reduce the racking force required to get the gun into battery. This allows those with weaker hand strength to operate the pistol effectively, even under stress.

"Although the Walther F-Series is primarily marketed to female shooters, there's a lot of features on this gun that both men and women can enjoy," Olsen said.
