When Magpul Industries released the innovative Backpacker Takedown stock designed for the popular Ruger 10/22, it was a match that many consumers took to in droves. Now, Ruger offers a dedicated model in its 10/22 rifle lineup that comes with a factory-equipped Backpacker stock, allowing consumers to order this desirable configuration from the start.

Based on the company's X-22 Hunter Takedown stock, the Magpul X-22 Backpacker stock is a minimalist design oriented toward transport and storage while still offering a functional, ergonomic stock that withstands the rigors of the field.

The Backpacker stock features a unique contour on the underside of the buttstock that accepts the detached fore-end of a disassembled rifle, enabling the user to lock both components together for security. Offered in gray in the Ruger factory configuration, the X-22 Backpacker stock includes a QD sling-mount point, integrated grip storage and a hinged storage compartment in the stock that accepts three 10-round spare magazines.

Ruger's 10/22 Takedown is a compact variant oriented toward easy storage and transport, thanks to the unique locking interface that allows users to separate the barrel and receiver with a simple twist. Thanks to the repeatability of the locking interface, the 10/22 Takedown returns to zero every time, even with receiver-mounted optics.

The X-22 Backpacker-equipped model of the Ruger 10/22 Takedown features a stainless-steel receiver and barrel, along with adjustable fiber-optic sights. The gun features a 16.4" barrel and has a 1/2"-28 t.p.i. threaded muzzle for suppressors and accessories. The receiver features a combination scope-base adapter designed for Weaver-style and .22-cal. tip-off scope mounts.

Suggested retail pricing on the Backpacker-equipped Ruger 10/22 Takedown is $529, which represents a significant savings for consumers who would otherwise have to purchase the stock and takedown rifle separately. For more information on this new release, visit ruger.com.
