Though it's produced look-alikes in the form of the 702 Tactical Plinkster, Mossberg has officially announced its entry into the world of AR-type rifles with the Mossberg Modern Rifle (MMR). The MMR features a direct gas impingement operating system, free-floating carbon steel barrels, over-sized trigger guard for use with gloves, and a Stark Ergo pistol grip.

The MMR Hunting, available inblack, Mossy Oak Brush and Mossy Oak Treestand, will have an aluminum tubular fore-end and A2-style buttstock, 20-inch barrel, Picatinny rail, Weaver-style rings and a five-round magazine.

The MMR Tactical line will have a 16.25-inch barel with removable A2-style muzzlebrake, Picatinny quad-rail fore-end, with the option of a six-position adjustable or fixed stock, and accepts either 10- or 30-round magazines. Check out the Mossberg website for additional information.
