Heckler & Koch announced in September 2024 that it launched HK USA, an expansion of its design, production and support facilities in the United States to better serve American enthusiasts. CEO Michael Holley explained in a letter posted on HK Pro that, “In response to the growing demand for our products and the evolving needs of our community, we are thrilled to introduce HK USA. This initiative represents a strategic expansion of our presence and services within the United States, aimed at enhancing our ability to serve you—our dedicated supporters and valued partners—more effectively.”

Holley indicated the initiative has been in the planning stages for years. The seeds for it may have been planted in 2017, when Heckler & Koch invested $28.5 million to expand operations in Columbus, Ga., with a new 50,000-sq.-ft.facility. It’s also appropriate HK USA opens in 2024, the same year Heckler & Koch is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

“HK USA represents a significant advancement in our ability to serve our American customers more effectively,” Holley wrote. “This internal initiative has been 5 years in the works and will allow us to design and manufacture more products right here in the United States. By doing so, we can now offer innovative firearms and accessories that are tailored specifically to the American market and meet regulatory requirements that previously made certain products challenging to import. Our approach to quality will remain—products designed and made in Germany and the US are held to the same ‘No Compromise’ standards.”

His letter indicates Heckler & Koch fans can expect three innovative new guns or improvements on company platforms to be introduced sometime between this month and HK Pro WOFT—an annual live-fire event and training hosted by the company. It takes place in late February 2025, several weeks after the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show.
