It’s the time of year when people have extra days off and most of us will make the wise investment of spending them with family and friends. For many of those who “protect and serve,” though, workloads only increase and finding that precious spare time with loved ones is tough—often impossible.

The situation isn’t unique to this season, although the festivities do emphasize the tireless efforts of law enforcement and first responders. Thankfully, many gun and gear companies never lose sight of that fact, regardless of the time of year.

Hornady is one of them and it recently received the Spirit of the Georgia Tactical Officers Association (GTOA) Award. It honors an individual, corporation or organization whose work epitomizes the ultimate vision of the GTOA—to save lives.

“Hornady has supported the GTOA monetarily, with equipment and through facilitation of events crucial to our membership,” said Candyss Bryant of Candyss and Associates. “Without help, the GTOA is not able to provide nearly as much training for officers in Georgia and surrounding states. Hornady is a great company with strong values and is truly willing to put their customers first.”

GTOA provides tactical operations research, development and training assistance to officers and agencies in the state. The service to special operations units and individuals helps better prepare responders for threats they may face.

Since 1949, Hornady Manufacturing has been a mainstay in the firearm industry. The family-owned business is based on Grand Island, Neb., and continues to produce its ammunition, bullets, reloading gear and more in the United States.
