A caretaker of a Kenmore, Wash., storage facility was forced to defend himself when he cam e across an armed intruder attempting to break into the facility early in the morning of Monday Dec. 28, 2020.
The incident occurred before 12;45 a.m. when the caretaker was making his rounds at the facility when he came across a woman attempting to break her way in to steal items. At some point during the confrontation, the woman pulled out a gun. In response the caretaker, who was also armed, drew his own pistol and fired a single round at the armed intruder.
The woman was struck in the shoulder by the caretaker's shot. Police arrived a short time after receiving a call about the incident where they found the wounded would-be robber and paramedics took her to the hospital. She will be booked into the King County Jail once released from the hospital. The investigation is ongoing. (komonews.com, Seattle, Wash., 12/28/2020)

Using a cal. 32 pistol he bought last year after being stabbed in the head by a holdup man, Leon Beach, 53, a Newark, N.J., grocer, routed three gunmen who tried who tried to rob him and his partner, Joseph Opatowski. Beach drew his holstered pistol and fired a shot which sent two of the gunmen running. The third, holding a pistol to OOpatowski's head, stood his ground. Beach dropped him with a bullet that wounded him critically. (The New York Sunday News)
